A surprisingly small number of series take place in outer space. And they generally use the spaceship merely to go between planets

1993-1997 Babylon-5 Huge space station w/many alien races has intrigue PsyCorps, Vorlons, conquered Norns. Early example of an on-going story arc
1995-1996 Space:Above&Beyond wormholes, space marines fight aliens
1997-2006 StarGate Elite team saves humans from alien overlords Based on the movie. Expands to good aliens, evil AI nanobots, fake gods. Every planet except earth is in the middle ages
1999-2002 FarScape Human lost in alernate dimension w/crazy aliens A tiger-man who lost his wife and son, mystic blue woman w/dark past, living spaceship; "peace-keepers" who look a lot like humans
2000-2005 Andromeda Kevin Sorbo w/quirky team and mega-AI/spaceship fix the galaxy Based on an idea by Gene Roddenberry. Not terrible -- some good ideas mixed with very silly ones
2004-2008 StarGate:Atlantis Spin off featuring life-sucking space vampires As usual, has a "Scotty" who can MacGuyver anything

2017-2019 The Orville Pretty much Star Trek, with comedy Seth McFarlane as the captain
